Riverfront Revitalization

In Fort Frances, where BMI is also 50% owners of the International Bridge, we’re working with the award-winning urban design and landscape firm Scatliff + Miller + Murray (SMM) and Sputnik Architects to develop a precinct-based master plan that elevate the waterfront as a place of reception and reconnection with the Town proper.

Riverfront revitalization is the first step to supporting new and existing retail, entertainment, and residential projects and the jobs inherent to them. All of which contribute to the value of the community, its potential as a destination and its status as a regional centre.

Economy for generations

From the residents of Fort Frances to American hunters and anglers, prospective business interests to our Anishinaabe partners, and the tax base of the Town itself—all of these are stakeholders, and for all of them, our success is measured by their success and the subsequent resurgence of Fort Frances.

Beyond the mill

The official closing of the mill in 2014 has been felt deeply by Fort Frances and the surrounding region.

There is intense community interest in the future plans for the mill site and what those plans will mean for the future of Fort Frances.

The redevelopment of the land represents an extraordinary opportunity to redefine the town’s identity and set the stage for investment and community building for generations to come.
